Two Doves Cafe & Gift Shop sits quietly on Pen-Y-Llan Street in Overton, offering a warm, inviting spot for locals and visitors passing through Wrexham. As a cafe, it strikes a comfortable balance between casual dining and a relaxed social hub, making it an ideal place to catch up with friends over a well-made coffee or a light lunch.

The atmosphere here feels unpretentious but thoughtfully curated, with a gentle buzz typical of neighborhood cafes where familiar faces drop in regularly. On most days, you’ll find a mix of local residents settling in with their dogs, families taking a break during a stroll, and people keen on browsing the attached gift shop. The shop itself, filled with carefully chosen local gifts and a small collection of women’s clothing, complements the cafe’s welcoming vibe, offering something extra beyond just a coffee stop.

Visitors who appreciate straightforward, fresh food without an overwhelming menu will find just enough options to satisfy. The standout is the chocolate chip cookie, praised for being a sweet comfort alongside the drinks selection. Meals are served with a friendly touch, and the staff’s approachable, cheerful manner is a consistent highlight — from regular weekday mornings to the busier Sunday openings, which are especially appreciated by locals.

Two Doves is notably accommodating for those with dogs, offering water bowls without hesitation and ensuring four-legged friends feel included. This ease and friendliness broaden its appeal beyond just coffee lovers to anyone looking for a relaxed place to pause during a countryside outing or everyday errands.

While not a bustling urban cafe, it thrives as a community-centered spot where the joy is in a quiet, friendly atmosphere and the simple pleasures of good food, thoughtful gifts, and welcoming service. Early afternoons, particularly on weekends, seem to be the time when the cafe’s warmth is most evident — a steady hum of conversation and the occasional clink of cups against saucers.

Brilliant cafe. I visited here on my way to pick up a boat, I was with my family and dog. On being asked wether they were dog friendly or not they declared “Of course we are” and took us to our table. We were brought a bowl of water for the dog and a menu. The food was brilliant and I would highly recommend nipping in when your nearby. • Dog Friendly • Great, welcoming staff • Great food I would 101% recommend coming. (Our dog below)

Reasonably priced cafe. A range of sandwiches, breakfast options, paninis and baked potatoes to choose from. Plenty of car parking in the municipal car park located behind the cafe. Dogs welcome (treats and water provided). Scrumptious cakes available to eat in or take away. Lovely, relaxed decor. A wide range of gifts, home wear and well chosen clothes and jewellery on offer in the gift shop. A welcome edition to the village!
